I attended this event which was organised by the Venuemasters team and held at the Emirates stadium home of Arsenal football club.
Only a few minutes’ walk from Arsenal tube station so easy to reach unfortunately the signage to find the actual entrance was non-existent which didn’t help at such a large venue.
The exhibition was quite small taking up just one part of an impressive Emirates stadium, and only featured venues from England plus a couple of Event organisers and Event Industry News and PA Life
A number of short seminars were on offer including one of particular interest to ACE members “What does GDPR mean for event professionals?” by Jamie Vaughan Chief Commercial Officer for Glisser
Some of the academic venues are able to offer facilities all year round were others only do so out of term time
As we are largely London/ South East centric at present I was particularly interested in the offerings of Kings College which has a prestigious new venue opening next year near the Shard in part of Guy’s Hospital and looks well worth a look. Also, Imperial College and Greenwich (which has a venue in Medway near Rochester) are also worth considering.
Further afield it was good to catch up with Cloth Court Leeds to see how they are faring since they opened a few months ago; and the answer appears to be successfully
York has the wonderful King’s Manor a Grade 1 listed building opposite the Minster; and both Birmingham and Manchester were well represented
If you are looking for venues for small meeting right up to large events then a number of academic venues are worth considering. Nearly all of them are now run on professional commercial lines and can offer some attractive propositions.
