I attended this two day event organised by our friends at Hire Space as ACE had been invited to be an event partner.
This was the first event of this type that had been organised at the CodeNode location in the City. This is a location specifically set up to reflect the use of technology for a whole range of industries but specifically this time for the Events sector.
Exhibitors were by invite and visitors also had to pay to attend. This gave people access to a number of talks and Masterclasses. These ranged from “Effective strategies for putting events at the heart of B2B marketing mix and ensuring ROI” to “Virtual reality and its role in the future of events-what can it do for your event?”
Topical right now was a panel discussion on Women in Leadership-what can the industry do to nurture talent.
I missed the discussion about UK politics of Brexit and how it is affecting business. No doubt everyone has their views on this subject.
The exhibitors were a mix of historic venues such as Historic Royal Palaces, Transport Museum, Alexandra Palace, Twickenham Rugby Stadium and the National Gallery; plus, some newer businesses such as Camm and Hooper who have a number of sites in the City and The Good Hotel in Royal Victoria Dock.
There were a number of specialist food suppliers and Bovingdons were offering little tasters of ice cream – I tried the apple and calvados which was delicious.
Given that this was an event by invitation I got the impression that this was about quality rather than quantity so attendees could both learn (and get CPD accreditation) and discover some new and old venues which have much to offer. I think this event will grow and be one to look out for in the future and ACE look forward to supporting in future years. Keith Brown, Chair
